We
are closed to unsolicited novel-length submissions until September of
2012. However, we are currently seeking short fiction for the new
edition of Encounters Magazine. Encounters
Magazine is back as a digital publication that will be available in
numerous formats for 99 cents. Look for the first issue in March. Check
out the guidelines and payment info here.
We are seeking science fiction, fantasy and horror.
All
of our book releases are available from our Web site in trade paperback
and PDF format. Paperbacks can also be purchased from many other Web
outlets throughout the world. All of our available books can now be
purchased on the Kindle and the Nook.

Celine Island is under quarantine.
For the past year a disruption of physical laws has
occurred. Solid objects have become transparent, some hovering in
the air or moving all on their own, others altering their shapes. The
weather has radically changed, a climatic onslaught of floods, storms
and high winds have left the island in the throes of disease and death.
A visitor has come to Celine, disturbing the natural
balance of the world, and willing to destroy it to save his own.

Cassie
Jayne Bishop grew up in the sleepy town of New Salem, NC, the only
non-believer in the tradition and power of the town Coven. When a
stranger comes to New Salem, everything she thought was normal about
her life unravels around her. Ethan makes her question everything, even
her sister’s death in a car crash years ago. As Cassie discovers the
full truth about her heritage, and the clues start to pile up, she
becomes determined to find out if the Coven was actually involved in
her sister's death. What she uncovers terrifies her.
Her fate lies at the very heart of the secret the Coven
protects. It’s the reason she was born. Now, betrayed on every side,
can she find a way to survive or will she be the catalyst that triggers
a centuries old act of vengeance.

Be careful what you pray for. I merely asked to
live a
long healthy
life and hinted that I wouldn't mind starting over while keeping the
knowledge I had accumulated
in my 58 years. And if a better set of tits and less wrinkles were
involved, I certainly wouldn't complain.
Well, I'm here to tell you, God does listen… to everything… and he's
got quite a frigging sense of humor. I'm the undead proof.

Fact
sheet for authors
submitting manuscripts to Black Matrix Publishing
We are not a vanity
press. No one pays us any money to print anything.
We will not publish
whatever comes through our door just to build a large catalog of books.
We won't print it unless we honestly believe it is a good book that
others would enjoy reading.
We prepare the
manuscript for publishing, including the cover art, and all proofs go
to the author for final approval before the book is sent to print.
We use Print On Demand
presses so books are always in stock, ready for shipment. We release
all novels in standard trade-paperback format, e-format on the Kindle
(from Amazon.com) and in PDF and ePUB format.
We pay royalties on
every unit sold (except for in house orders and discounted author
copies). Royalty payments are 50% of profit on every book we sell. The
author makes just as much on each copy sold as we do.
We enter all titles into
extended distribution channels such as Ingram which makes them
available for order by local bookstores and libraries all over the U.S.
through their normal distribution network.
Books are also sold
worldwide through Amazon.com (U.S., UK, Canada, Germany, France and
Japan) and on our Web site at www.blackmatrixpub.com
as well as dozens of other outlets around the globe.
We are not a major
publishing house... so, no, we do not have a huge promotional budget.
We do send out and provide review copies to numerous publications to
help spread the word about a new book release. We will also make use of
social networking sites to spread the word as much as we can.
Our primary focus is on
Internet based marketing and sales. According to a April 4, 2010 report
from the Association of American Publishers, e-book sales are up 176%
from 2008, while Nielsen Online claims books in all formats are the
'most popular buy' on the Internet. We believe the future of the book
industry is online, that's why we focus our efforts in that direction.
